whaat's that thing???

Hi Z's,,,,, anybody tell me what the regulator looking thing is on the fender side of the clutch master cylinder, it has what looks like two sets of wires coming out of the bottom..... oh this is a 76 2 plus 2..... what are the fusible links protecting... they are not marked soo..... I had one burn out, it's the one toward the front and the link closest to the fender, I think it's lights ???? oh and one more very important thing.,. lol,,,,,, where is the voltage regulator?? I'm getting a bit confused by all the answers and info I've seen.. so... my alt has a black plastic thing attached to the back w/ the wire from the bat attached and then a two wire plug to the left looking at the back.... thanks and a Happy New Year 2 U.. Doug

Doug, without a pic or better description we could guess for days. I suggest downloading and reading through the FSM: XenonZcar.com S30 Factory Service manuals

thank you very much. I had downloaded the manual before and lost it in changing putters.... now I'll be able to identify what is not shown in the manual I bought,... yikes.. Doug I did find a totally destroyed volt reg... ouch eighty bucks .. but wait you can install a later model zx unit with the reg built in ... for only 45 bucks how cool is that .. now if I could just find the instructions herein for putting in the jumpers and such..,. I may have to change the pulley .. hmmm we'll see when it get's here in the morning.... I'll let u all know.... Doug

well it didn't show upppppp... great but may favorite wrecking yard had the 79 alt for only 30 bucks and the switch was easy,,, but oh no the running lights/inst lights /interior lights..etc don't work,... come to find out the regulator burned out really bad... melting down the coils in it and taking all the lights w/ it except the head and brake lights... so the switch worked out great... as far as the part I asked about it was part of the fuely sys ,,, a type of dash pot... no biggy... oh boy sure was nice to see the correct volts on the gauge now... but those lights are a bit of a bear to replace.... thanks again.... Doug
