Clutch won't re-engage

Howdy Gang

I'm a long-time reader, but this is my first post. Hello from Canada!

Starting with a thanks. I have an '86 2+2, and it's running fine. Mostly because of these forums.

The problem I present is on my neighbors (1989 n/a 5sp)... He's trying to sell his car, and when a viewer came by last week. They started it, depressed clutch popped it into gear released pedal. Car still behaves as if clutch is still disengaged. Pedal has a good firm feel, master cylinder reservoir is full. Clutch pedal returns without issue.

I have searched, and not found a similar issue...

I'm hoping it's a master/slave cyl issue...anyone have any similar experiences with theirs? I'm open to suggestions...

Will try to see if there is any movement at slave this weekend. Will also try to bleed system (and replace DOT3).

The car has been sitting, but ran fine when it was parked (aprox 1 year ago).

EDIT:
Not bragging about being an idiot, but I had engage and disengage backwards!

Having read a few more threads last eve, I've ordered a 280zx brake line too.
