Hi guys. Just picked up a great 86 z non turbo automatic with only 130k miles. Body engine and interior are great even better I only paid $500! Here's the problem I put it in reverse and nothing happens also when I put it in drive it will not **** out of 1st1st gear. When I put it in reverse its like its in neutral not park. Is my trans shot or is there something else I could try? Torque converter etc? Transmissions are not my strong point clueless! I love the car just need a little help. Thanks all for the help! Ps picks of it are in my album also it has plenty of trans fluid.

 

Did you drive it home in 1st gear?

pretty much the z31 slushbox is a piece of garbage. lucky it even goes forward.

 

The brake master cylinder was shot so couldn't test drive it. Put it on my trailer got it home replaced the m.s changed oil etc. Took it up the street and surprise trans problem! Trying to figure out if it could be other than replacing the whole trans. All I have is 1st gear even if I manual shift from 1st to second. Checked the linkage seems ok. Didn't know if there's something electrical I can check. Also what's a slush box?? Lol

 

Time to rebuild the transmission.

Sluchbox = automatic.
