gear grinding from 3rd to 4th gear @ 6k rpm shift
i took my car on the highway today to blow out some carbon out of my car since i rarley drive her and do over 3.5k rpms. as i hit 4th gear from third, that bitch grinded on me so i thought i didnt press the clutch down all the way, so i slowed down to third, gassed the bitch to 6k, and it grinded again. but.. when i drive her moderatley at a 3.5-4k rpm shift, no grinding
any opinions? all is appreciated,
-kenneth-
EDIT: i changed my cluch about 1,500 miles ago, and shortly after that ive run red line trans oil.

You got a short shifter. could be marginal syncros. They'll prolly last another 25 years. If you wanna drive aggressively you'll have to live with the grind or wait a split second after pulling it outta 3rd and then into 4th.. When I'm driving aggressively in the canyons, I can grind 2nd - 3rd, 3rd - 4th and 4th - 5th. I just consider it normal.
I don't have any grind under normal conditions. Some opinion, mostly fact.

Same for me. Did it before the short shifter also. I haven't driven it enough with the short shifter to really know if there's a difference. In all likelihood, I won't be able to remember what it felt like before to make an accurate comparision.

Mine grinds from 4th to 5th usually if i take it over 5k in first through fourth then why i shift into 5th it will grind on me! Sucks by I have heard it s kinda normal but it could be my synchro's going out! I have got alot of maintenance coming up im sure that will be be something to add to the list! Well I got new tires a couple days ago and when I bought my car it had bad tires i put like 5k miles on it and after i changed the tires it is such an awesome ride!

my white car grinds from 3 rd to 4 th when driving aggresively and does grind from time to time under normal conditions goin from 4th to 5th.
Rizz is right..the Z32 is plagued my weak syncros. Nissan put a soft metal in for some reason. THe 94s have stonger syncros and the 99s have a completely different design for the trannys. But good luck gettin your hands on one used from japan yet.
My solution for the grindin gears...double clutchin. It gives your syncros the needed split second to allow them to align properly. 4th gear...clutch..shift to neutral....clutch....shift to 5th.
Try double clutching AND heel toe downshifting..that kills your ankels after a while.
