Starting problems

When i try to start up my 88T car comes on for a second and goes off. I really have to pump the pedal quickly to try to keep it going. Then it will sputter and die. To get the car started it will take almost a quarter tank of gas plus it will take a total of roughly 15 mins to get it going until it warms up and then it runs like a freakin CHAMP! then when i turn it off, it goes back to the same problem again.

Im thinking Fuel Pressure Regulator and TPS but i wanna be sure though before i go blowin money i dont have. This is why. I already checked fuel pressure and its at 40psi, Fuel filter replaced with a WIX, cap, wires, plugs, and rotor. Im also idle'n at about 1100 rpms. It should be at 700 rpms. correct? Idle'n has always been a problem.

Oh! And i also noticed that when i took the plugs out, they are pretty wet. When i dry them and plug em in, it fires up nicely. What do yall think?

okay I hooked it up to the computer and it stated the coolant temperature sensor is bad. but would that affect my excessive use of fuel and complicate my start up? that's all it read.

probably the cylinder head temp sensor (may be what you are calling the coolant temp sensor) but it isn't. It is the usual problem when it runs fine warm and won't start cold. Do a search on how to replace there is a write up on the web. Pretty cheap under $40 part.

just got the part in last night in (fuel pressure regulator) and i will be installing that this morning. so i'll keep ya updated on that and as far as the head sensor i need to put that on order. i was told that sensor does play a vital role in engine start up and plays a factor in fuel consumption. so indeed plan to replace that especially when the computer is picking it up.
