Im working on my carbs and I can't ge the choke thingy to come off the bottom the the carbs, I unscrewed the Adjuster screw till it hit it but it one move at all. Should it be able to move up and down? mine doesn't.

EDIT: Ok I mean the nozzle is frozen in place or well was, I finnaly managed to pull it out as it was stuck inside the carb. I'm tearing the card apart and cleaning it now! SU's are surprisingly simple in design.

Heh I'm taking my SUs down to the machinist so he can run them through his parts washer, after all seeing how nice this engine looks I don't want some half dirty carbs on it! lol

My Camera doesnt want to work with me today no matter how much I toy with it I need to get a new one.
Anyways! Heres my new L28 Sitting back in its old home! So far no issues with hooking everything up other then finding all the bolts. The only issue is the intake manifold gasket doesn't have the holes for the bolts for a carb setup so I need to drill some holes in it.

Well I figured the stock engine paint was an odd blue which looks close to the paint I chose. Tho I told the machinist to just paint the block. I guess he felt like painting everything! tho no complaints here lol

Uh Sense I'm using SUs on this and it has round/diamond exhaust ports which intake gasket should I use?

Heh Thank you, And I hope you get yours on the road soon!

Um... How do you take the power steering pump reservoir off? The FSM doesn't say anything about it.

Got the SUs rebuilt finally and got the right gasket for the intake and exhaust. I'm a little worried that the air filter near the brake booster wont fit but Im hoping those small K&Ns from MSA will fit. I also need to order air horns and the gauge to tune these things lol oh and the SU oil

EDIT: oh ya FEAR THE DUCKTAPE BATTERY! Its an old batt I got with it from the junkyard lol there was a big hole in teh top but it still works! but for not being used for so longs its dieing.

Uh I got the the point where I can prime the system with oil then get ready to start it now... But I have an odd issue... The oil pump doesn't seem to be pumping... Uh I have no idea what to do I know the pump is turning but why wont it pump? I took the oil filter of and used a remote starter and saw nothing

I didn't. but the machinist primed the system with an oil injector thingy through the oil sender hole I figured that the oil pump got oil sense nearly everything else did.

Always prime the pump on a fresh rebuild.

How do you know the pump ISN'T pumping?
How many sparkless cranks did you do to prime the system?

I cant count with how fast that thing is going lol I did it for max of 15 second intervals.
And I know the pump isnt pumping by A no oil pressure and B I took the filter off and turns it over and got nothing.

Edit: I looked over the FSM is doesnt say anything about priming the oil pump lol

Page 74 of the Haynes manual:

17 - Oil Pump - R&R
Step #8: Fill the pump body with engine oil to prime it and align the punchmark on the driveshaft with the oil hole below the drive gear.

I'm sure it's in the FSM too.

Thats Haynes. I said the FSM and it doesn't say a thing about it I've looked. EDIT: NEVERMIND I forget you have to flip through half the book to find stupid ****. Well ****
Ok lets say there already is oil in the pump. why wouldn't it pump? I REALLY dont wanna screw around with the damn timing after its already been set!

Not to be an *** and say "I told you so", but here's a scan of my FSM:
And if you have filled the motor w/ oil, it should be picking it up... even if it's not registering on the gauge.

BTW, you are also supposed to prime the oil filter.

Ah man... you DID find it. I had to do a man hunt for my FSM here at home, just to scan that for you.

Don't take it off... just fill the oil filter & crank a few more times. Then take off the oil cap on the rocker cover & check for oil at the cam (I assume you used rebuild lube / white lithium grease on the cam / rockers right?).
