Today is the day....

Well folks it`s been awhile coming but today is the day I put my z back together. Bolting on the fenders and headlights and she will be done. Minus a windshield wiper assembly, just didn't come with the car. Wish me luck, I`ll get pictures up when i am done.

The whole rear is 280z if you notice when i first got it I needed no jackstands I could almost stand under it. It now has the stock 260z springs but still has the 280z shocks and cap, which I was told is taller. And yes it hits the bump stops. New shocks on payday. The oh so soon I am getting tokico`s and doing it right.

I was hoping the wing would make it fly, it didn't. I took it off already. Like i said before, just there to plug the holes so I could wash it.

Looks good man, not a bad looking 260z. Now for filling the holes. For a cheap and decent fix. Which has worked on my rear hatch. When I ditched the ugly rear louvers. I use good old bondo and sandpaper. It worked pretty good, except for one spot. I didn't do well enough. But otherwise worked well for the most part. But yeah that wing did not look right at all. Takes away the nice lines of the Z. Good luck on your Z project. They are a great learning experience.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, now how hard and how good an idea would it be to stuff a vg30dett into my 260z?

How hard is it? That's relative... Do you know what you are doing?

How good of an idea? Again... relative. I can think of several engines a lot more REALISTIC to drop in.

Doing a quick SEARCH on this site, I found:

https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...light=vg30dett

https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...light=vg30dett

You can prolly find a lot more info on hybridz.org about motor swaps... that's their specialty.

It was just a thought. Probably a bad one, this car has a mostly stock l28 and I know deep down it will be the car that kills me. It`s just if I gotta die I wanna die "fast".

It's lightweight, throw an L28ET in there, with a couple mods you can go pretty fast. Throw on an intercooler, upgraded turbo, Z31 ECU/MAF, better injectors, a boost controller, and you can go pretty darn fast.

if you want a car that can track good and run 12-13's without a problem, a 260Z with an L28et is a good choice. but if you want to go faster, do a different nissan engine.
