with a carb synchrometer, but if there is a carb shop nearby, they can do it too.

Dude... you haven't even done a tune up on your car? Yeah... you should prolly start with that.

So... no money for a tuneup on the Z, yet you have money to buy a crappy Mustang that will surely need work when you buy it.

Since this is your employers Mustang, not just something you found on Ebay or Craigslist, is your boss the type of guy that usually takes good care of his cars? Post a few pic's of it so we can get a better idea of the overall condition of it. $2k and being able to make payments is a pretty good deal if it's in good shape inside and out. I think I remember you saying you lived in Sac. If so you could buy it and drive it until you get the Z fixed up how you want it, then if you wanted you could sell the Mustang after it's paid off, and most likely put some extra cash back in your pocket (as long as you keep it in good condition).

LOOK you say you found 6 leaks, you fixed the leaks, now it not running right??!!?? Did you fix 1 hose at a time??? or did you take em all off and then news ones on??!!?? You also said that you have $300 for the Poopstang??!!?? That $300 could get your Z going... For the time being, maybe you should make the Z leak vacuum so it will run... LOL ... then, with more $$$, you could fix it right...

Sounds like you are getting too much gas... vacuum leaks (runs good)= too much fuel...

Uh... the basic parts for a tuneup. Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, vac hose, fuel treatment, etc... If you need help getting a simple 240Z going... think how much you will enjoy working on a Crapstang.

Tune up??? Okay, you need to decide what you're doing!!!??? Yes a tune up could help and should be done, buuuuuuuut you said you found 6 leaks... you fixed 6 leaks and now it's not running...???!!! Do I think that a tune up will fix it... ready 1...2...3...NO!!! Will it run some what better... Yes... I don't know why this thread is still going!!! If I fixed the leaks, then it wouldn't run right and I didn't have the $$$, time, or knowledge, I would undo the hoses one at a time till it ran good... Look... we all here at ZDriver are trying to help you, but it seems like you're doing your own thing...

In the spirit of Christmas, does anybody here live close enough to him to maybe pay a visit and help him figure out what his problem is? If I lived closer I'd at least drop by and take a look at it for him, but I'm 5 1/2 hours away. Kind of a long drive for what could only take a half hour to an hour to fix.

Just drive the mustang, see if it runs good. If it runs good with no problems at all, then buy it. Right now it sounds like you're not going to be making any progress on the 240Z any time soon. Although I don't know how you're going to be able to afford insurance and such on the Mustang.
