it would be awfully hard to get that thing up to 8k. if spark is cutting out at 72-74, i'm pretty sure tires would be hopping before it got to 8k in most cases

it is so cold here lately! we just had our coldest day in 4 years, because it didn't get above 30 all day. crazy. it was 14 this morning. i bet none of you on here have ever been that cold!

in an auto? they have speed sensors built in so that you cant do that if you throw it in 1st it wont shift to that untill its at like 35mph so it only revs up to like 5k . in a manual i suppose its possible....

when your converter is locked it will act like a manual valve body trans.

yeah i understand the downshift factor there, but i'm saying that i would expect the wheels to lock before it would turn the engine that fast with essentially 1 or 2 dead cylinders because of the rev limiter. but if you've done it, i guess it can...

i was working on my friends old grand am that he decided to fix up yest. and today putting in a new radiator, tune up all new fluids pretty much all maitnence you could do... we take it for a test drive and half way back the head gasket goes... (all though i had told him the day before that the oil that came out shouldn't be looking like chocolate milk)

we roll to a stop and i look over out the window at one of those church signs and it said "Having Trouble? Meet Jesus"

it was a holy, antifreeze-burning moment!!!!

and btw ZX's do have some torque, i pulled his car all the way back with the ebrake on (my bad)

I remember in a friend's Saturn the transmission was messed up. It would randomly do what it want. I heard one time where it decided to shift from 4th down to like 2nd on the freeway and the needle was off the gauge numbering. Surprised the car survived. Then one time on a trip to Baltimore the car would randomly decide that it didn't want to shift from 3rd to 4th. So what he would do was put the thing in Neutral. This is on the freeway. So anyway puts it in Neutral, turns the key to off waits a second, then turns the car back on and shifts it to D. The tranny would then shift to its 4th gears. By the end of the trip when we got to Baltimore the car would no longer want to shift out of first. Tranny had fluid, fluid was fine too. On the way back from Baltimore transmission shifted fine.

that's dumb. i'll tell you, it won't last long. the no oil thing does it pretty fast... it won't even rev very high with the 87. i'll trade you a completely driveable N/A for it, and you can do the abuse test on that.

hoov... if you want to do an LS2... dont do it on a TT thats running. use an NA or a Z32 with an ALREADY destroyed motor.... like your NA auto you had.

that car is more done then can be done, but say if the injectors fail for the third time and i am really bored i think i will swap motors, snw you have to realize just how many TT z's there are.

hoov i would trade you flat out my N/A for any tt you could give me to pass inspection, and i'll trade you the rear wheels back if that's what you're after. then you can **** with an N/A, that no one wants anyway.

theres not that many TT's any more, there werent that many in the first place, especially compared to NA's, dont bastardize something thats already special, use an NA dude... that or a roller chassis, then at least your saving something....
