lol 600's run mid/low tens stock and liter bikes run mid low 9's and both have potential for more if they wouldnt lift. also, i'd consider my 600 scary fast. only for the fact that in 1st gear abouve 11k since i have no steering damper i get head shake like crazy haha. but im used to it now. also, 600's are faster in the twisties. but they wont stand a chance in a straight line to the liters. all pro's and con's my friends

how much does extending the arm damage handling? if it's a reasonable extension, say 2"?

any extension hurts i tried a 2" for three days and besides the strait line being alot better, the handling just turned to crap.

that sucks. did it just want to slide out all the time or did it just get harder to balance?

wider tires loose profile height as well and so you cant lean as well. with the extension you can still lean as well but with the extended base the turn radius is made much larger because of the separation in wheels its like say if you had a compass like a plotter type take it draw a circle, now extend it a little and see how its now a cricle thats twice as large as the extension you just gave it, yup radius's are a hell of a drug. make sense?

I like mine. I park it next to the new sport bikes, and everyone crowds around mine. Same reason I like the Z. It's not as fast as yours. God know's I have ridden with enough CBR1000's, ZX14's, Buses, you name it. They are all faster. But, I have had it to around 145 limited by gearing. It would go higher, but that speed on those forks of mine is scary. Things start to feel like a wet noodle. haha
I will own a new sport bike some day. Just not for now. I like the old vintage naked bike.
I want a CBR1100XX, or a newer VFR800. I think the VFR for it's sound and comfort.

alright, the dealer with the mach 1 flaked and gave the runaround the last time, so i am currently looking for new idea's and remembered my step father having a 92 toyota truck 2WD with a dead 22re and was thinking about tossing a vg30e up in that ***** with a 5spd a 9" and a long travel kit. what do you guys think? i could also ve30de it or possibly vg33 it, but i want to keep it simple.

Hey Snw...I took a road trip on my Kawasaki today down to the Kawasaki dealership just to browse around a bit and possibly sit on a Ninja 250R. Sadly they didn't have one there, they said they can't keep them on the floor...BUT...the guy I was chatting with that works there said he had something I should at least look at, so I did. He showed me a used 2008 Ninja 650R...the twin not the ZX6R. He said I am not trying to change your mind on what you are interested in but being that I rode in on a 40hp 443cc motorcycle he thought I should check it out.

Well I sat on the bike...like butter!! He was telling me that it is like 60hp but the tq is much better than the 440 I ride and it is liquid cooled. Sitting on that thing made me realize how crappy my bike is...my suspension is all springy in the back and this one is all, well way better feeling I can tell you that. The clutch lever on my 440 takes like 20lbs of force to pull in and the clutch on this was like 1lb or less...it was so nice. I put my feet on the foot pegs and they were slightly behind my knees whereas on my bike they are right below my knees and the handlebars were narrow and way more comfortable feeling...as I explained to the guy it's like going from a 280zx to a mid 90's 300zx as far as how it feels in the cockpit.

He said they are still great on gas and can hang with the ZX6R's in the corners all day long. All though I was just barely not flat footed sitting on the bike it felt great, just a slight lean to either side and I would be flat footed on one foot at least...I can deal with that. The bike felt light, not heavy at all like I thought it would...I am starting to get that feeling like maybe a sport bike might not be that bad.

the 650R the new ones arent bad looking never been a banana seat fan but the rest of the styling on them mostly makes up for that. they arent a bad bike but they are designed completely different so with EXPERIENCED riders that R wouldnt keep up with the zixxer in the corners lol. but amature to amature im sure they would be equal. but still a great bike reliable and a damn good price. and its true the new ninja 250R's after the redesign in style are all pre-ordered for the most part lol. near impossible to find. also those 650R's are neat looking when stripped into a streetfighter. but my fav streetfighter would probably be the Z1000.

they just need a slip-on and some slightly smaller/less ugly mirrors

also i cant flat-foot both my feet either i have my heels elevated about 1 inch off the ground so not quite on my tiptoes yet. also my bike doesnt feel heavy when sitting on it though its not light all ready to drive its about 400lbs with oil gas etc probably a bit over that. but once your moving is where it matters, feels like im on a bycicle almost looses all its weight. kinda sucks though when riding in a strong cross wind it will blow you around feels like your wheels are sliding on you when it first happened i was like wtf i swear if my wheels are coming loose causing me to oscillate, then i realized how strong the wind was outside.

I am 5'10" with a 32" inseam and weigh 180lbs...I too am about a half and inch to an inch off the ground on the 650R...on my 1982 KZ440 LTD I am flat footed with bent knees and on my '85 Yamaha Virago 700 I sit even lower. I would gather that if the preload on the rear shock of the 650R were less it would compress more in the rear as I sat on it allowing me to sit flat footed.

You must be tall

acutally we are about the same i only weigh 135-140 ish yeah i have an asian build. i also thought after the fact that a slightly different size tire in the back would make a huge difference too.

btw the 650r's are really nice bikes

Hoov,

22RE FTW.
Good torquey engine. Good mileage. Simple as hell. And cheap as hell.
I would keep it in there for less of a headache. It's a 4x4 trail vehicle. I like to keep them simple, and beat the hell out of em. Plus, replacement parts are way cheaper for the 22RE.
