i tend to stay away from anything bottom fermenting. lagers just don't do it for me. i'm a true hop head. sierra nevada pale is my daily brew, and in the winter it's all about the celebration ale. i love moylans hopsicle, and stone ruination. hops hops hops!!! i like belgians now and then, chimay grand reserve (blue label) is like candy. i like beers with character. something that gives the tastebuds a thrill. i've spent $10+ for a single 12oz bottle, and the most i've paid for a single bottle of beer was $60 for a 3 liter bottle of 2005 oaked arrogant bastard.

Hahaha, I seem to have a different taste I guess. I really do love mexican beer though, probably because I live in N. Mexico (Tx).

As far as all "cervezas" are concerned, I have to highly disagree about them all tasting the same. It's funny, every "real" Mexican that I've ever spent time with couldn't stand Corona either, it's like the Busch Light of Mexico. I don't know, I guess the skunky taste just isn't my thing.. I like a smooth, flavorful beer that's not "thick." I personally never got in to hefeweizens or anything, just because they were a little too rich for my tastes. A lot of my buddies all used to drink a bunch of different hefeweizens and ales, but I usually ended up drinking some red stripe and calling it a night.

heineken is such a shitty inconsistent beer. using transparent bottles really ruins it.

You must have experienced the worst beer of all time or your taste buds needs to mature. I drink red wine and love it, and just got started into beers (don't ask why) but I never thought beer had taste but my taste buds grew as the time went on and as I tried more different kinds of beer.
I love it more and more (so much that I tend to lean towards beer then wine now )

But, you're a woman right?
That's cool with me. I don't know many women that like beer. Just keep it sweet and fruity.

Nah no wine coolers either, I don't drink any alcohol at all (weirdo I know).

As far as developing a taste for beer....I drank plenty in college...and its still tastes the same to me......BAD! But if you have to "develop a taste for something" then lets face it- its not good to begin with!

No problem with not drinking. I respect that. My dad was an angry drinker. Some people should not drink. It is the worst drug known to man.

I did not like beer until I tried ones that tasted good to me. That does not mean they all suck. I did not acquire a taste. Although my tastes are changing.

If I'm in a spendy mood - MGD, Corona, etc.
Need to get really drunk mood - Black Ice. (6.1%, and $13.60 for a 12 pack)

Pretty much all beer in Canada is solid though. No offense to you Americans, but your beer is not that good.

ales top ferment, lagers bottom ferment.

it has to do with where the yeast hangs out during fermentation. top fermenting means the yeast stays at the top of the wort during fermentation, bottom fermentation means the opposite.

lagers like colder temps and longer ferment times. Marzen, Pilsner, Vienna etc are lagers. budweiser, miller, etc are lagers. heinekin, stella atrois, grolsch, all lagers. light color and flavor, tend to get skunky.

ales cover the rest. pales, stouts, porters, ipas etc are ales. ales have stronger flavors, darker colors, and higher alcohol content.

Have you tried all the American beers? Or just the popular ones? I agree. THe popular beers suck. haha
I drink European beers more than any. They have been doing it longer, and seem to have it down.

Imagine a meth addict on an assembly line? They could all start a little bit of a project, and give up. Then start another and give up. Then start another and give up.
Why use robots?

Thanks entropy31 for the explanation...clearer now then before about Dark and Light also.
Has anyone tried the new American Ale by Budweiser...I am tempted but don't want to ruin my experience with beer if it turn out to be crap.
1664, interesting...I might do the same and go to bevMo (thank ratfink) this weekend and try 1664.
Let em know on the American Ale think, still not guttsy to try that.

I'll try any beer at least once. No problem.
The American Ale was better than I was expecting.

It poors with a decent sized foamy head hinting at the proteins involved.
Good lacing too. It's a nice amber dark but very clear color.
Great hoppy, and malty smell. Pretty balanced.
Much better than the normal watered Bud, but it was not as great as I was thinking it might be with the look and smell. Not the greatest after taste, and it left my mouth feeling a bit sticky kinda like a cheap malt liquor.

If you are at a bar with limited choices, I can see going for the American Ale.
But it would not be my first choice.

I was impressed with Bud however. After trying their other new beer with the lime in it I was worried that they could never make anything drinkable.

I've tried most of the popular American ones, but I've never really found one I really liked. I seem to prefer the richer taste of Canadian/Imported beer. Not saying all American Beer is bad, but I haven't found one I'm really fond of yet. That could be because I've only tried the mainstream ones though.

What's in my fridge right now:

-MGD.
-Corona Extra.
-Black Ice. (Made by Molson)
-Heineken.
-Moosehead.
-Molson Canadian.
-Two Rivers/ Fort Gary Brewery. (A local beer, the brewery is located about 5 minutes away from me.)
-Kokanee.
-Brahma.
-Molson dry.

Damn, I have a lot of beer in my fridge.

There are a ton of smaller breweries in the USA. Can't say they all stink. What got popular here is strange to me, but most people like them I guess. I just don't think that my beer should go in looking and smelling like it will come out.
