Wont crank but clicks. Fuel Injector?

Was running great for like a half hour. Theres a miss but it was idling fine and running well.

I pulled the injector thats bad, put a new style one in, not remembering that the fuel rails are different.

I tried to start it, it turned over for a second then died out. Then there was a weird sound, like a buzzing kind of and it wouldnt start. It would just crank for maybe half a second, then the starter would just click.

Put the old, bad injector back in thinking that was the issue.

It did the same thing, made a loud click, like it tried to turn over and then just wouldnt, but the starter still clicks.

Could it be the starter?

Could something have happened when I put the new injector in by mistake?

Its strange because i just reversed the steps and the car was running well before the injector.

Any ideas would be a solid help, im going out there now to look at it some more.

Thanks

Come on now. Its been charging all night. I might have fried it though. The negative terminal was smoking a little.

Theres a little grinding sound to it as well. Like itll crank then grind (maybe the starter grinding). I dont think its something as simple as the battery.

If you put a new style injector in an old style fuel rail wouldn't it have poured gas into the intake? Maybe you have hydrolocked the engine.

I can manually crank the motor so its not locked up. It manually spins like it would if i normally spun it.

If it's not cranking, it's your battery or your starter. You injector CANNOT prevent the motor from cranking on startup. If your battery was smoking, it's probably fried. (Clicking is normally tell-tale of a weak battery.)

And yeah you cannot just drop a new style injector into the old rails. How did you even connect the new style injector to the wiring? They have different connectors...

it also sounds like your not getting a good connection on your battery terminal.. you said your negative terminal was smoking a little bit. that might be due to a bad connection.. clean your batter terminal and try cranking it again...

It was the bad injector, it was leaking into the cylinder.

I suctioned out the fuel and it fired up.
