plenum cracked. already replaced it with another one.

Drove it for the first time today... It was scary...... I didn't even hit full throttle and it scared me....

I have the boost controller set to 10.5 lbs, but on the third and final test drive for the night the EBC recorded a max boost of 13.1 lbs...
It's a greddy profec II... any ideas on what setting I need to change? Is that a boost spike? This being my first turbo, i'm not really sure how to set this thing...

im not sure how to set a profec though i do know it is pretty easy, read the manual turd burger. also you shouldnt get any boost spike with an EBC they are very good and making sure that doesn't happen, so that's just what it is set to or maybe even higher if you didnt hit full throttle. quit being a puss and go ***** out (assuming the engine is broken in) its not that hard to handle a car until its over 400whp lol. and even then as long as everything is in alignment, good tires, and the LSD it should be pretty manageable.

I did read the manual, and if I think I have it set right, then i have it set to 10.5 lbs.... which yeah... obviously it's going over that... according to the EBC....

And I'm not going ***** out until the new turbos, clutch / flywheel and other things are broken in properly.

turbos break in? never heard of such a thing. lol. as for the clutch, that only counts for shifting. as long as its engaged you can go full throttle, just gotta shift all pretty for 500 miles city driving.

Probably isn't a break in on turbos, but it certainly won't hurt anything to really just take it easy on it and break stuff in... plus i have a new drive shaft I want broken in and stuff.

i don't know about any of those things being "broken in", but i certainly do agree with taking it very easy on the car for a while after doing a job. i'm always worried i forgot to tighten a bolt or something and i want to find out about it very subtly.

lol... you're all babies, and forgot a bolt? either re-check it all now or screw it. wont make much different in the end result how you are driving the car if something along the lines of "oops didnt tighten that" and then pow it goes all wrong. id say drive normally, but no need to grandma it until you realize it is reliable but eventually you have to go nuts on it, so not gonna matter in the end, either happens then or now lol.

well i am a ***** and i just have that natural fear lol. i usually take it easy on the car until i start to forget that i've even done the job. it takes a couple thousand miles for me to start feeling relaxed in it again haha. no lie.

psh.. with the talon, i made it 2 miles before the timing belt jumped and destroyed the head, after that, i just was **** about my work, did 500 miles granny like, the next 5 hundred playing with WOT every now and then, and after that, full 1st-4th pulls to see what would happen lol. so far, nothing bad, stupid strong engine built by me haha...

well that's our major difference lol. i NEVER go full throttle. i think maybe i've hit WOT about twice in the z in third gear i think. i just don't have the money around to recover from a blown engine.

LMAO if cars weren't made to go WOT they wouldn't have it as an option on the accelerator. you HAVE to go WOT every now and then to blow out the carbon that builds on valves and crap. driving like a puss isn't healthy for a car just as much as beating the **** out of it isn't. i hate you for having a sports car and not treating it like one... anything cars and bikes are made for they should be put through. like with my motorcycle, i'll go WOT through a few gears, no clutch shifts since its a sequential gear box, high rev down shifts for corners, and see how far i can lean and wear away the rubber from the edge of my tires (of course that last one only on corners i know well, don't want to wash out lol)

^^^ and then you drop it

but anyway, i get on it plenty hard enough to blow the carbon out if that even is a serious thing, but i just don't push it quite as hard as you. like i said, trying to make it last. i usually don't go past about 3/4 throttle and 6000 rpms.

i don't buy into the "blowing the carbon off" thing a whole lot though because when i originally took my heads off to have them rebuilt, the car had been driven pretty hard for the past few weeks right after i got it, and there was still carbon everywhere that came right off with a piece of wood.

lol i dropped the bike at low speeds changing parking lots, never ever pushing it. pushing it hard i've come close only a couple times to eatin ****, 2 times was setting down a wheelie to hard and getting MASSIVE head shake. the other was exiting a turn on a on ramp leaning deep and a car that was in the straight coming behind in the lane i was merging into decided to try and race me out for the spot, dick head. luckily bikes accelerate MUCH MUCH faster than jeep liberty's haha. even while still in lean

Well, I haven't updated in awhile... Finished my turbo timer and EBC mounting plate made of plexiglass and mounted it in the bottom din hole (lost the pocket, oh well, didn't use it anyways), replaced my interior carpet (biggest pain in the ***, some a hole sent me 2 + 2 carpet, but with the proper trimming you can make it fit a 2 + 0), recovered my seats with some black and red leather and suede seats with a Z embroidered in them.

Finished hooking up all my gauges, oil pressure, boost (been hooked up for awhile) and most recently my wideband O2 (got the bung welded in finally).

I'm pulling 16 AFR at idle, and dropping to around 10.2 under boost.. I know I have a vacuum leak at the TB's though which are currently remedied with sticky tack until I pull the plenum again. Thoughts on these numbers?

I bought them from a local car club member like 2 years ago. I just now got around to covering them. Not sure where he got them. I'll find out.
