engine removal

Ok I'm trying to remove a TT engine and ATM The tranny is off of it and the engine is ready to be pulled but How do I attack the engine to the hoist? I dont see any slingers or anything...Can I just wrap chains around the intake manifold and lift it from there?

Many people use a front plenum bolt and an upper trans bolt. You should've gotten a proper sling though.

I just saw the Ramey Z Slinger and I might make a quick knock off of it to use. Im only pulling the engine this once anyways...

Man I wish the engine bay was so cramped on a Z32...

What? Im never going to take out a Z32 engine again >.> And I cheated and just used a tiedown strap wrapped around the intake manifold a few times. it worked but Im not going to be able to put an engine AND transmission in that way

^2nd. Most Z32's require annual (or at least bi-annual) engine pulls.

Ok theres oil from the VCs down. some of it looks new. Common problem with the VG30DETTs?

yeeeesh.... How much crap can you really **** up with a TT swap!? Whoever did this swap did it EXTREMELY poorly... Hell they didn't even install the OIL COOLER and the used EXHAUST PIPING For the intercooler piping! On top of all that the EGR is gummed up. no wonder this engine liked to over heat in like 5 min!

Anyone think this car will ever run again? lol

lol i've managed to never have my engine completely out. i do anything i can to avoid it cause i don't have a whole lot of space in my garage.

not quite sure what you mean by vc but if it's what i think it is then they are just set in the head with liquid gasket maker and are prone to leaking if not done just perfectly. one of the things on my to do list. i'm going through about a quart every 3k cause of that leak and the front seal leak.

Do you have to drop the front subframe to put the engine and transmission back in?

just put it in the same way you took it out, it's only a big deal if you make it one.

have fun! If you can, get the car up high in the air, then insert the tip of the trans, between the cross member and the firewall, then slowly, pull the trans back and eventually up, by then the motor should relatively be in place. Just go by trial and error if you have to, just try not to **** anything up. about the same as any other RWD driveline in a tight engine bay.

Imagine using a banana on your girlfriend/wife opposed to your *****, same concept, except for you have someone in the back guiding it, once its in.

Or... you can do it the easy way and put the engine in without the trans attached...

In the dozen (or so) times I've done engine pulls and replacements, I still do it that way.

I understand, I think... Anyways The reason I want to put them both in at once is so I dont have to fight the stupid transmission under the car. I dont have a trans jack else it might be different

Tool rental is free at Auto Zone and Pep Boys. I'm sure one of them will have a trans jack.
