Oiling air filter

Can I just use WD-40 to oil my JWT filter or do I need to go get the brand name filter oil? Thanks

WD40 is a lubricant more than an oil. If I were you, I'd spend $10 and go get a K&N filter recharger kit.

A big Negative on WD-40 as an oiling medium for air filters. Use the recommended brand.

Emo and Baseball are right. WD40 will not work. Any auto parts store that carries K&N air filters will have the proper kit. It's $10-$15.

The oil that goes on a filtering medium needs to stay there to help the material filter. WD-40 will eventually evaporate. More so in a heated environment. That last thing you want is a dry filter. The WD-40 because it evaporates will only make it more so.

Thanks guys, I got the kit and I am done now. I hope this will help with the terrible gas mileage I have been having lately. LataZ.
