No air filter -___-

Okay so I just bought a 300zx and it seemed to be running good when I checked it out, unfortunately my idiot self, forgot to look for the air filter. SO i've been driving it in the city for like two days now, I cant get an air filter because the previous owner removed the whole casing, and I wont be able to get one until i get paid next week. My concern is, is there any serious damage that can occur? the car idles pretty sloppy now, and when used a lot smoke comes out of the hood smelling nasty like burned oil. Whats going on?

lol Yes, serious damage can occur. If anything gets into the intake, you can enjoy rebuilding the engine.

And you don't need the airbox... that's a retarded setup anyway. JWT POP Charger - $90. Best performance, too.

Yeah it looked like a crappy set up too! i ned to drive it right now so im gonna be careful i drive on clean roads. okay but i wanna know why its idling really bad, do you think its cuz the Intake air control valve is clogged? and could the burning smell mean broken piston rings?

Sounds like you just bought a shitty Z... sorry. Could be idling bad because of the missing filter (your MAF could get dirty, which could impact idle). Could also be a million other things. Take it to an expert. If you can't afford to fix it properly (which, until you have the expertise, means taking it to someone who can), you bought the absolute wrong car.
