Multiple problems?

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and just bought a 1991 2+2 300zx M/T 153k miles. I've had the car for about a month and it's recently started smelling like gas(inside and out), the MPG is a lot lower then it should be and when I slow down sometime the car would just shut off. Also there is an idle problem, the car will rev from around 500rpms to 1500rpm at times. You can feel that the power has dropped a lot. The car struggles to go fast. Could it be the fuel pump or something wrong with one of the sensors? please help me out guys

Rule of thumb, if you smell that much raw gas, your fuel mileage drops and the car is acting weird, chances are You have a fuel leak.

thanks I'll definitely check it out. Also what about the idling and the random shut offs? can that be caused by fuel leaks aswell?

I was thinking injectors seals leaking causing the smell as well as a vac leak.

It definitely can be. If your engine isn't getting the fuel it needs it will die.

Also be careful, until finding that leak I suggest not driving it. If one drop of fuel hits something hot.. bye bye car!

Try tightening your fuel lines coming from the Fuel Filter on the right side of the engine bay with a screwdriver. In cold weather, the fuel lines contract which can cause the fuel to leak out. I did this to my Z recently and the gas smell went away.

However, if you are getting hesitation too, your injectors may be bad. Last winter my car smelled strongly of gas and it turned out 2 of my injectors were bad and were leaking, according to Z1 when I brought it to them.
