Lots of engine heat!

I realized these cars build up a lot of heat under the hood, anyone know how to solve this..or even a solution to keep it cooler?

thanks

It's called an engine, it creates heat. If your temp reads normal then there's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, the VG30DE(TT) is just a hot-running engine... not much you can do about it.

and it's a fairly big one packed into a fairly small space. this is why FMIC's are not a good idea. we need all the air flow we can get.

haha, sorry. I might just rig up some 3 piping into the engine bay from behind the front bumper to help cool it down.

fyi, none of that stuff helps. running a little cool air around the engine isn't what helps. upgrade your oil cooler if anything, but the air around the engine is just always going to be hot, because whether or not you introduce a flow of air from the top or from the front, there's really no where for it to go. you're not sucking heat out of your block by putting a fan on it.

Hood scoops don't cool an engine bay off. Hood vents do. What you're experiencing is called a "placebo effect."

In fact, hood scoops on cars that don't have an intake behind them has it's own term... it's called "rice."

I understand it will be hot, but i hate all that heat under the hood. The temp does read normal but all that engine heat can really take a toll on the wiring and other parts.

And as for rigging up..in my 89 Supra it had a nice route from the front grill to the engine bay so i got some 3'' flex pipe and just ran that up..it helped bring air to my intake..because the supras intake sits beside the timing cover/turbo, and have no direct air supply, just all engine heat.

As i look closely at my engine it would be a task to find a route..ill find one/

So we can all say "I TOLD YOU SO" later, before doing any modifications, take some data:

-=Use an infrared thermometer=-
-Outside ambient temp
-Temp under hood when engine is cold
-Temp under hood when engine is hot
-Temp of hood when closed / engine hot

After your modifications:
-Outside ambient temp (hopefully the same as before)
-Temp under hood when engine is cold (same spot on motor)
-Temp under hood when engine is hot (same spot on motor)
-Temp of hood when closed / engine hot
