the heat

As much as I hate the "look" of louvers, they make a HUGE difference in the cars ability to stay livable in the sun.
TTops, rear hatch and front glass create a green house effect in our cars.
With louvers, ttop shades, side window tint and a front window shade with the windows cracked about 1/4" will make a world of difference and protect the interior panels and dash from sun/heat damage as well.

I do have a louver on my back window, t-top inserts, side windows tinted and I use a window shade for the fron when its parked. I dont crack my windows unless I do not use the shade but when I do the heat is very mild and very confortable. Try some of these things and you will notice a diff.

exhaust heat
How about exhaust heat, specifically from under the driver's side rear wheel? When I get out after a drive and walk to the back of the car, that area is almost on fire from the heat coming off the muffler - is that a symptom of anything, or just the way it is?

Go oldschool man. Get those window inserts with the alluminum foil looking reflective surface and put it on your front windshield. I live in cali, had to do that for a while in summer, makes a tremendous difference.
