Kid talking trash.
Kid talking trash.
Ok this kid was talking to me about how he is getting a 240 with a 4 cylinder that has been bored out to a 3.0. he said that it would be able to beat my 300zx n/a in a race because it is lighter. He also says that his car will be able to out handle mine. Anyone agree or disagree?
Might be possible if you have a 2.8 / 2.9 liter four. Might be possible to do with a 2.4 liter KA motor (stock 240), but not very likely. I don't think you could even bore and stroke the KA and get 3.0 liters.
yah Whoever is a better driver wins. and if he has an SR20 the highest stroker he can get is a 2.4L. if he has teh KA24 max stroke is 2.8 my friends are mad 240, Z32, R32, and R33 they know their thing. btu no My friends 240 has the 2.8 stroker kit with intake and custom piping to come alogn and were tie. I hand there and he does too.
He's probably right on, hypothetically speaking, if it has been bored out then it may have a chance, but it would cost quite a bit to upgrade everything to a 3.0L, and why do it to the KA??
But in the end it really does depend on the drivers capabilities.

I dont know how true this is, but I ve heard. That the earlier S13 chassis or 1989-1993 model 240sx has the strongest chassis out of the 240 production run. The later models were done up more for comfort so the are heavier and chassis are weaker. So depending on the model, you may have him there.
Another thing, The Z32 is a HEAVY car. But on the flipside, you do have a limited slip differential and a crap load more torque than that KA motor. You are also alot wider than the 240, so you could get him in the turns.
It is a flip of the coin, but I also agree that the driver plays a big part in a car's performance. I would start practicing just in case the little 240 driver is skilled. Try heel-toe downshifting for example, i do it all the time when I play on backroads.
About the coment about it being a 3.0...ummm. Not likely. Even with boring out the cylinders to the max, he couldn't geta 3 litres. Everyone was oooing and ahhing over a 3.0 RB26DETT this past year at the Tokyo Auto Salon. A 3.0 KA, yeah right. I would race him. BUT MAKE SURE it isnt powered by a SR or RB engine first!

Chances are that kid doesn't know what he is talking about. he could have the meanest engine in that car and no tranny
There are a lot of fast 240's, but most of them are boosted. Now as for nadling, earlier 240 coupe's (s13) had 50:50 weight distribution and with some minor suspension mods they would outhandle a$$ heavy z32, but their 2.4 KA engine didn't make them fast in the straight line. Anyway I think that kidis a hater because all Z32 owners get all the ladies

I hate to differ, but my 5 spd KA24DE was a whole hell of a lot faster then my VG30DE is, plus im sure its the weight and tranny that made the differences there. But jus cause its a 240, doesnt mean ****, my 240 would have smoked my Z in the quarter any day of the week and both were and are pretty close to stock.
In fact its been a personal moral dispute as to whether I should just fix this Z up and sell it for an RB and another S13, and just destroy everything with wheels in this **** ant little town. Its cheaper in the long run and the power to weight ratio is much better then in this car, but then again theres the fact that the Z is a notorious cult icon, that does indeed get the ladies so I dont know what to do.
