what z did the voice come in?
My car has never talked all I get is a ding when my keys are in and the car is not runing.

 

The voice was I believe 82+. I know my 81 GL didn't have it. But my 82 did.

 

Yeppers... 82 - 83 280zx's & some (if not all 84 - 87 Z31's)... Dunno about later Z31's.

 

'87 z31s did not have this feature. the last year to have this was '86, and all of them to '86 had it.

 

some even had a mans voice due to too many complaints fom them women breed

 

i have an 82 and mines doesnt talk..

 

I can't really say that I would like my car talking to me, but I do like the coustom sound I dea. I would probably have some french lady, and she would tell me wen the tank was low. it would say somthing like top me off or somthing or fill me up . I french women telling you to fill her up yea.

 

Should say "Left Door Open" when driving & you open your door... or "Fuel level is low" when it gets below an 1/8th of a tank. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? A lot of times people don't hook up the wires that go to the speakers... so you'll never hear the voice w/o the stock radio.

 

so if you open the left dor when you get 1/8 of a tank would it say left floor level open?

 

but i dont have the stcok radio and mine talks but iv only got it to talk when the lights are left on?

Then the stereo wires were hooked back up right. It's usually the hack jobbers that mess it up. Anyway, open your door when driving & see if it talks. If not, it's prolly your door pin sensor.

ive opened my door at high speed, nothing really happens, just gets windy! if you apply the ebrake when driving, just enough to turn the light on, it tells you that too.

 

you mean it tells you it gets windy! WOW!!!!!!! Just kiding

 

Mine used to sometimes say that my parking brake is on when the engine was started but hadn't yet begun to move the car. So the parking brake was indeed engaged, but it's not supposed to b_tch at me about it until I get moving. But lately I haven't heard from her, and I suspect she may not be working anymore.

Mine talks only when she wants to, unlike my wife (non-stop! JK!)
The only thing i have gotten it to say is LIGHTS ARE ON! I have two and one does nothing at all. I think I am gonna crack it open just to see the inside. I hope to find one that says it all. I remember when Datsun started using that voice module, and I am a stickler for everything working like it did the day it left the showroom floor. Anyone have one for sale?

 

I had that in my 83 200sx I used to have. Maybe if I get bored, ill try to retrofit one in my 75 280. :lol
