High idle, 90MPH limiter (safe mode)? HELP PLEASE!

Hi, I am considering buying a 91 300zx.

The car I am looking at needs a new know sensor and the guy said it idles high around 2k and wont go over 90 because the bad sensor puts the car in safe mode? its a non turbo. I've seen how to relocate the knock senso but my question is how do you know its a knock sensor and not a knock? and from what I've seen on line safe mode makes these cars ide lower, not higher...

thoughts? he is selling it cheap and I think I am going to trade him my 95 integra for it.

Sounds like a good thing to do you'll either get smarter or graduate sooner.
