good machine shop

I am looking to have my 90' 300 block and heads machined. I am looking to have the block bored out, decked, water jackets opened, block deburred, heads ported and polished etc. I have been talking to Z1 motorsports but they are very slow and inconsistent in responding. I'm not sure if this is a sign of how it will be to get things done on my engine so I am looking for other options. Does anyone have any recomendations? Does Z1 do good work? Are they normally good about getting things done when they say they will? Any suggestions...let me know. I am looking to be pushing between 700 and a 1000 hp, so I want someone who knows what they are doing, and can do it at an affordable price (I'm sure you guys hear that all the time). I live in Indiana, but wouldnt mind shipping the engine.

I currently have my car at SGP and they are a bit inconsistent on their responses, unfortunately only one person has the update on my car and well it's taking a bit of time.

"affordable" and "700 and 1000 horsepower" in the same sentence... right...

Kyle no longer works at SGP. I have no idea why, would love to find out the story though.

Affordable is not the same amount of money for everyone, he might consider 10/15k affordable.

Management disagreements... SGP said Kyle was doing bad stuff, Kyle felt SGP was doing bad stuff, so he left to start Import Parts Pro http://www.importpartspro.com/

If you really want all the details...

Dont worry im not looking to only spend about 1000 to get to those hp numbers. I know it will take a lot more, but I just dont want to be ripped off by people who overcharge for doing the same work as someone else who charges less.

-sgp quoted me way over z1.

-I have cousins that live in Columbus. They went to columbus east (brown and orange right?).

sometimes the cheapest isn't the best either, when you are building that kind of HP. You could also check with Rob at zcargarage.com. They are in CA but they do quality work, it won't be the cheapest but it'd be one person that I would trust to build a 700HP and make it reliable as can be expected.

Micheal and David Nelson. David graduated the same year I did (2002) and Micheal graduated in 99'. They both played football. I think in 03' you guys played my highschool in football for a sectional game (Roncalli). Kinda weird.

Yea, I was on Roncalli's soccer team, but I dont think I was on the team when we played columbus east. We might of still been 3A in soccer. Our football team went to 4A because everyone was complaining. Oh well. Small world.
