Anyone know a good A/C Shop

The A/C compressor in my Z is shot and Nissan wants $1,300.00 for parts and labor. Is there anybody who can do this cheaper?

Did it burn up because of the pulleys?

No I don't think so. My guess is that it is either just a shitty compressor or something got screwed up when the belt got tangled up and shredded in Buttonwillow.

We could do a tech day. I'm off Friday. We can probably at least determine if it's an electrical or mechanical problem. I've got some Miata work to do on Friday as well...as long as the parts come in by then.

What the heck happened at Buttonwillow? Has the AC worked since then?

Who has a shop manual?

Can you survive until Friday without AC?

Brian - I really don't feel comfortable replacing the A/C compressor myself because I have heard that it is a pain in the ***. To answer your other questions...

To read about what happened at buttonwillow, http://www.mikeythekidlv.com/report61105.htm (Session #3)

The only time my car has run since Buttonwillow was yesterday when I figured out the air didn't work.

I have my dad's truck so I have all the A/C I want until my car gets fixed.

Friday may not be good for me because there is a chance that my Z will be at a shoot for a Castol Oil commercial. Shhhh, don't tell Royal Purple lol.

Take it to siver state... They had a really good deal on AC recharges and I told my buddy jody about it and he said they did an awesome job for 1/3rd of the price everyone else wanted. I know this is no AC recharge, but still... maybe they can help you out. Oh, btw tell them you found them on Myspace, they'll give you a 10% discount.

Referral Program

Finally, you're going to get to use myspace to your advantage and have something to show for it! Our goal of 1,000 friends has since been overruled by my boss, and now the goal is 10,000. So here's the deal.
For every person that you get to add us to their friends list, you will get 1pt.
1 point is equal to $1 in shop credit.
So, for example, if you get 40 people to be our friend, you can use that $40 for a free AC charge, or an oil change, or put it towards a bigger job.
When someone sends us a friend request, I'll ask them who they were referred by, and I'll keep track of everybodies points by username. So if you wanna play, send me any username and password that you'd like to use, and I'll keep your points on file.
Thanks guys!! Let's do this.

The bottom of that message states Silver State Motor Cars, not Silver State Motorsports. I have never heard of Silver State Motor Cars, but I guess I will check them out.

Here are my options so far...

I have a connection to a licensed mechanic that will do it for me in his garage for less than the dealer.

or

One of the service managers at Desert Nissan is going to see if he can get me a deal.

If I decide to go with neither of those options, then I will go check out Silver State
