Ok, I have a problem and I think it should be fixed right away, lately I have been smelling fuel around my car and inside when the defrost is running... what are the first things I should check? the fuel lines? I know I need to fix this right away but not sure where to start (Im a noob)...

 

I just had this problem fuel lines, fuel pressure regulator, fuel damper, fuel filter. I was running really rich, it was the coolant temperature sensor, a fuel line, and pressure regulator.

ah... any suggestions on where in San Diego I could take my car to have it looked at? I dont feel comfortable enough under the hood to be messing with my fuel system.

 

Z Wizz. if i remember correctly, its on aero drive, just up the hill from the freeway on the airport side. i lived just up the street for a few months. they are a bit pricy, but they deffinately know z cars inside and out. they also work closely with jim wolf, who is located in chula vista i think, and can set you up if you are interested in mods. i have never had any work done by them, but i have stopped by a few times with questions. they were freindly and willing to help me out. my friend with a 92na has had work done there which he is very happy with. as long as he is in SD he is going to take his car there.

 

This job isn't as hard as you'd think, follow the write up and you'll do fine. This is one of the first things I ever did on my old TT since it had the fuel smell when I bouhgt it. It was a good job to get to know the car a little more. Just remember to depressurize the system. I'm also in SD and would be willing to help out if I had time. Gimme a PM if you think you need a hand. I do encourage you to do this one yourself, it'll be a great learning expereince and save you tons of dough.

Yeah I am no mechanic and havent had much experience on foreign cars until now, and I didn't have a hard time fixing my leaks. Im positive that if I can do it, you can too.

 

Yea, if you know which line is the fuel line, then you can likely fix it. Just follow the fuel line from the filter to the return and tighten all the clamps along the way.

 

Tis the season for fuel leaks.

 

True that. I almost got myseft BBQ last weekend because of that. Luckily, no major damage.
