We have a clue, but no actual first hand experience with slapping turbo's on an N/A long block. As we could spend less money and just get a TT motor for the same price if not less then the N/A motor.

I actually broke two wrist pins (amongst other parts in the motor) in my black N/A some years ago.

And before you hop on the JWT wrist pins look like N/A's, they are not. They are thicker on the edges and are tapered to be thicker in the center. (most likely just machined TT wrist pins.)

Pretty sure it was CarlM (RacerZX) who broke the wrist pin. He had pics posted on TT.Net.

Are you guys trying to do this in Colorado or at sea level?

how much thicker? any measurements. They look very similar in size to me. Dont really notice much of a taper, either, but if you say so. ConVerTT seemed to be running ~13psi just fine on pump gas through two gt28rs turbos. I think with proper tuning, headstuds, valvesprings, on e85 we should at least get close to our goal

I am also skeptical about the build direction here, and by looking at the pictures I know that you'll be going broke just making this car look respectable again, let alone modded up. So good luck. To paraphrase another member, just build it and let the car do the talking.

That is the plan.....

Anywayz. Cruised over to denver on monday and picked up a 90 vg30de w/ 151k miles to throw in the car while the current engine is being torn down to replace the valves/springs/studs, etc. also picked up a new driver's lower control arm for cheap.

Our buddy stopped by in his 2+2 TT (full vg30dett) z32. He's getting some 1000cc injectors and we're gonna be tuning it on e85 shortly:

Should have the other engine in by next week, current engine on the stand, and most of the new parts ordered

Wow. Just got done reading this post for the first time. I have 2 ideas of what happend to this build. I could be wrong, but I thought I'd throw my own opinion in there.

Idea A: From everything I read they were going to do to it they might have ran out of money for the build. It looked like they had at least $7k-$8k on their build sheet.

Idea B: They actually completed the build and blew the motor on the first high rev. With all the talk on how great it was going to be, I would be pretty embarrassed to get back on here and tell everyone they were right. Especially after they told everyone they were wrong.

Just my 2 cents lol.

More of a fan or grape fruit, stock block doesn't mean ****, stock N/A long block would be a different story, but even then nobody is saying it can't be done, but will be very inefficient and ALOT weaker then just using a TT long block.

Like grape fruit? How about my ***** in your mouth?

And where might this build be anyway? Wouldn't mind checking it out, but like hoov pointed out stock block doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Hey I'm happy with my build. Still going to upgrade as I go also.

One thing I can say about my build...IT RUNS! It also only took me 8 working days to complete it with no electric or air tools or even a little shade tree.

Love reading these old threads and laughing at these so called experts who had zero idea about what they were talking about.

10.5:1 is too high of compression for boost... lol... GTFO
