Another Header opinion post...

Ok, I just installed a Megan exhaust on my Z. I don't how much you guys know about the brand, but I am VERY happy with the look, sound, and performance of this exhaust, and so are a couple of other local Z owners that convinced me to go with Megan. Anyway, Megan also makes headers as well and they are pretty cheap. Can anyone out there give their opinion of the Megan headers, and if not, I hear the debate is usually between Stillen and AMZ. Are there any other brands I should be checking out, or should I stick with the above mentioned headers?

Don't quote me, but I believe that Megan has a reputation for cracking.

hmm....to *** to this i got a question, where do you find the room to put on headers? do you have to like drop the engine like you do when doin new turbo manifolds or turbos on the TT Z ???? if so headers dont seem worht the work for only a few more hp

the myth of not bein able to do the the headers on a NA Z is false. I ve seen two different methods of installin headers without pullin the motor or removing the heads. Removing the heads is also an option..then there is of course the whole pullin the motor bit.

I m gettin really tired of the TT guys makin comments about NA guys spendin to much time and money on our cars..and makin cracks about just needin to sell our cars and get TTs.

My response would be this..why? Why do we want to be like you guys? I own a TTZ and I hate the damn thing.

A buddy removed his brake master cylinder on the drivers side to free up some room. Then on the drivers side he removed the battery. And some how he managed to finess it up there from the bottom. Another buddy did it by removing the alternator, PWS pump, and lowered the A/C pump. THis allowed him to slide the headers in and out thru the front. I believe he also removed the raditor too.

I am gonna do it here in the next few weeks hopefully. When i do my 60K. However I am gonna pull the heads off and have a port job done and have the plenums extrude honed as well. Before I bolt the heads back on I ll bolt the headers on and make sure thety seat properly.

No, the doctor says do the header install, then take a coupla anxiety pills, get some stiches, take some pain killers, then tell the world how it went.

fwiw; when I did my pcv valves, I removed the fuel filter / line mounting brackets and the intake hose on the d/s and had pretty good access. On the p/s I just removed the battery, but I'm sure removing the intake hose will help alot too.
Most of the work will be done from the underside anywayz.
