Your Opinion
I found a '90 300zx NA with 157,000 miles on it. I think i could get it for 5,000 or a little less. Would you consider this a good buy? It hasn't had any engine work done but has a new clutch and brakes. Is that to many miles, and do you think the engine will still be pretty solid? Any info is appreciated.

Re: Your Opinion
bro its a nissan that engine will stay solid till about 300k miles thats a pretty good price but what about the belts, fluids, tires, weather stripping, extirior pain, interior wear and tear, and other minor things like fuses and what not make sure the car works and runs good and hasnt be treated like its been in the dump...i bought mine for 6k and it had 120k miles on it and the previouse owner didnt take ther greates care of it so now i have to pamper it more than i pamper my wife but its all about to change b/c she is about to get one as well...so she wont be so jelouse haha anyways if the guy live near you dont be affraid to take like 3 days to look at it and spen some time alone with it as well...make sure you get under the car and check for rust and what not...and try not to get that first car buying fever where you fall in love with it at the first sight...i did and thats why i drove a dodge before now eeewwwhh...anyways good luck and check everything!

Re: Your Opinion
It has the normal wear a car with 160,000 would but its been well taken care of. The guy that owns it just drove it back and forth down the highway to work and back. He had all the work done at a Nissan dealership also. Before I buy it I'm getting my mechanic to take a good look at it. Would I probably need to go ahead and replace the timing belts on it?

Re: Your Opinion
Your timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles. Its a good pratice to have. The price does not sound too bad. When I was looking for a ZX initially, a guy here was selling his 93 NA with over 160K miles for $7800 firm. That was too many miles for me. I was lucky and got my 87 turbo that had only 120K miles on it. Thats good your going to take it and have a mechanic look at it. Its worth the money invested in that if you know nothing about 300ZX's. The mechanic told me not to buy mine, but I did - hehe. I would have Nissan look at it, or any highly certified repair shop. How new is the clutch? Take it out and test it, remeber - this is an investment, unlike most cars.

Re: Your Opinion
I'm not exactly sure how new the clutch is but it is probably no older than 4 months. I did test drive it and it ran very well. It idled a little rough in neutral but I don't think it's anything major(maybe spark plugs or dirty fuel injectors). Thanks for all the help.
