Aftermarket Exhaust Question
Hey all.
Just got my 94 NA
The previous owner put an aftermarket exhaust on it, and it's -real- nice; but my only problem is that it's VERY VERY loud. (i've been pulled over twice in a week; no tickets but still a hassle)
I dont know anything about exhausts, so unfortunatley this is all the information i can provide:
- Stainless Steel -all- the way back
- Welded, not bolted
- Basically no mufflers; has a 'glass pack'
What is my cheapest/quickest fix for this? Putting stock mufflers on? Large resonators? The car doesn't have to be silent, but it needs to be much quieter. When it idles it sounds good, real deep and not annoying. But as soon as i accelerate it's REAL loud (not ricey) but its loud enough to get hassled by cops and to annoy the hell out of me and anyone else around.
Any thoughts?

I assume by the set up you describe, you do not have to worry about emmissions?
Keep in mind, a free flowing exhaust on an N/A will always be louder than say on a TT.
You could consider things like installing an H pipe or go with resonators. Cats would also reduce sound.
Given it is an N/A, you wouldn't lose much in the way of performance, maybe even get some low end/torque back.
