Aftermarket rim question/what size tire?
Hello guys I'm new to the forum and the 280z. My son talked me into buying him a 78 model. Anyway he's wanting wheels and tires. His car is completely stock. We are wanting to go w 15". I know the originals are 0 offset. He found a set he like but they are a 15x8 with a +25 offset. Will these rub? Also what size tire do w need to go with. Thanks

Welcome to ZDriver! Pick up a freebie factory service manual at XenonS30 and check out the other cool docs there.
Our 280 pros will have some input for you - but I bet there's basic tire/wheel information in your service/owner's manuals too.
To post some photos of that cool 280Z (pix are always good!), sign in, click Post Reply, write your reply, click on the little paper clip to the right of the smiley face just above the text box, locate (browse) your photos, click on them, they list, click Upload, click Close This Window, click Submit. Easy enough?
Thanks!

280Z looks to be in very nice shape.
All I can give you is I run 15X7in., 0 offset.
Tire size is 205/60-15. I have plenty of room.
Many run 8 inch too with stock fenders. But I don't know
what offset they run. Many wheels are made in 0, +15, and +25
that fit the Z.

I agree with 205/60-15
The original tire on the 78 280Z was a 195/70-14. The tire size suggested by lumens is almost exactly the same circumference, which means the speedo will still read correctly. The stock tire on my Z31 is a 215/60-15, slightly larger than the 205/60-15. The stock Z31 rim is 6.5 inches. You can likely get by with rims 6 to 7" wide is you go with lumens suggestion.
P.S. Remember, the more positive the offset, the larger or deeper the back space required by the rim.
