93 300zx Questions
93 300zx Questions
Alright guys I'm about to buy a 93 300zx 2+2, non-turbo. Got a couple questions.
I'm getting the 300 for $2100/$2200. Needs a $100 part for tran, still drives fine without for now. Has an exhaust on it, 160k miles. Shifts smooth all of that. Now for the money(which is tight for me keep in mind) I'd like some input on this decision and any other suggestions you guys can throw at me. I previously had a 91 non turbo'd 300 but had to sell it before it was running. I don't know a whole lot about engines just some basics, so bare with me :/.
1. If later down the road I've bought this car and saved up, can i buy a 300 TT engine /w tran and put it in?(Hearing the cost would be around $3,000. Subsiding the manual labor, the 2100 for a non turbo and maybe a year down the road dropping 3g's into it for the TT subtracting the manual labor is pretty much the same price) <<correct me if im wrong
2. What else could i put in the car to give me more rwhp?(already has an exhaust)
3. If not step one, could i buy a single turbo for the engine?
4. Am i better off saving up and getting a TT if i can find one, or is this a pretty good deal to take and if question 1 is possible, do that down the road?
5. Any other input or suggestions you guys might have. Any information is helpful. Thanks for taking the time guys.

After 8 Z cars I found a 1996 300ZX Twin Turbo - Totally stock - And I bought
California Vanity plate DETT
Yes this car has no VVT - and it has the modern computer
However it will suprise most US big Iron - I must admit a Stage II 2011 Camaro is above it's class
I recently sold my 1971 240Z to a hard core restorer an L28 N42 with SU's from MSA
Getting back to the 1996 DETT This car has perhaps the best potential to be brought up to a real runner. I am in California so many restrictions apply.
I have 101,000 miles and it does pass Cal smog with almost new emissions
This car being factory stock, has a better value than a N/A converted or an earlier TT upgraded and no longer stock
Yes I'd like a 100 more horse power, just for fun. But I think I'll keep it stock
and buy a lower cost modded DETT from one of the LA300ZX Club members
to mess with the street cars
Cheers John
