I have been having some trouble with my power steering. Sometimes it works fine but other times it seems like it doesnt have power steering. A friend was telling me that this car may have a dampening system in the power steering so the faster you go the less the power steering works. my instrument panel hasnt been working so he said that that may be confusing the dampener causing it to go off when it doesnt need to be. any suggestions that would help me please post.

 

I have a 92 VG30DE. I have the same issue. Sometimes it works...sometimes it does not. I do not think it is a dampening feature. I think Zs are prone to this defect. Anyone have anything to add?

i had a power steering problem like that with my TT once. i was suggested to check my fuses, and i found one that was blown, replaced it, and power steering worked again.

 

does the pump make any noises?

 

if you're pum is not making noises is the Electrical. if pump is making noises you might either have a low fluid level or a messed up PS pump.

 

mine did this in the winter. on and off it worked. then spring time rolled around and it stopped. so i didnt give a crap anymore.
