83 power steering

Would an 83 2+2 be too hard to drive with the power steering removed? I know it would make a big difference but how much? Does anyone have experience with this?

If you're just taking the belt off the pump yeah it'll be a bitch. It's not like driving a car that never had power steering.

easiest way to find out would be to take the belt off, i did on my 82 and it would take some getting used to, i put the belt back on.

You gotta remove the entire power steering system, just taking the belt off doesn't tell you anything.

that's the only way to do it, or you'll end up putting the belt back on like you did

just another question on the steering system. is replacing the rack and pinion extremely difficult on these cars?

If converting to manual rack... not very (as long as you know what you are doing).

well i was contemplating taking the power steering off b/c of a leak and to save jus a lil bit of weight i know it isnt much but i was talking about the actual ps rack and pinion cuz its got a lot of play in the wheel turning to the left

You'd lose a grand total of prolly 6 to 7 lbs... not enough to make up for nightmare turns below 10mph (keeping the stock rack). Is the leak coming from a hose? Connection? Reservoir? Rack? Boots?

Have you checked the ball joints?

just replace the how its easy. you can even try some stop leak, it works if its a small leak usually. but i would do something fast cause if you keep runing the pump out of fluid or low on fluid it will die
