Turbocharger Upgrade Suggestions

I dont want something really big. just something that can produce a good amount boost if i decide to intercool it. and that has a quick response. i hear alot of z31 owners go for a t3/t4 upgrade. is there any bolt on turbos or an exact turbo that would be a good upgrade? or is it more like of a case by case thing? thanks

Sounds like u need to do some more reading.... Cant tell you whats the best turbo for bc you didnt say your power goals or what supporting mods you have. You can stretch a t3 close to 300. T3\t4 .60 trim is a great upgrade. But again you need more air and fuel to make big power. Alot of useful info on this website as well as others. Plenty of write ups.

again what are you looking for? a boost controller and run your boost up to like 9-10 psi makes a stocker run pretty swift.

+1 max out the stock turbo before you go out and spend money on another one. buy the intercooler and other supproting mods it will benefit you more in the end.

yeah sorry about that. im not so knowledgeable when it comes to turbos. but to give you guys a better idea. i plan to put a vg33et in w/the jwt 4bar package, gutted plenum, stage 2 turbo cams from theztore Lift(In/Ex): .420/.420. Duration(In/Ex): 270/262. also want to normally be running around 10psi(boost controller i know) but i want to aim for over 300+whp. not 100% sure if that will get me there. i will be getting a new certified muffler exhaust system no cat, and after market stage 3 clutch & lightweight flywheel from z31parts. i plan to do all of this in the summer. not sure if it will get me to 300whp without more boost(perhaps 15psi) which would mean i need a bigger turbo and an intercooler. better? thanks in advance

About $4.5-5k to build just the motor/turbo and probable another $2-3k to get everything else up to par. This is of course to make the motor reliable and not build a cheap chinese hand grenade.

BB turbo's are the only way yo go now days and you will thank me if you ever buy one.

So... a bb t3/t4 .60 trim turbo? I'm sure I would need a custom elbow and such right?

Yea modding = custom parts, where the fun is. hope u have good suspension, brakes, and tires other wise its going to be a waste when u end up in a ditch. Sounds like u know kinda what you want. Or just copy and paste a build. Little more research on your half is still needed. Those mods are overkill on a build for 300ish. Now if you wanted 400 plus more is needed but on the right track.

Sounds like ill go over my 300whp goal. If I could get that from the stock turbo that would be ok. In case I wanted a bigger one, I now got a better idea. Thanks all

300 hp is very possible, you should do a build thread when you start the build.
