I don't see how not having power steering would affect the ride quality. You don't save any gas, you'll only gain like 2HP and it will be a pain in the *** to turn in a tight parking lot. You want to know what it would be like, just disconnect your power steering belt. I've done it and unless your steering is pissing everywhere or you pump is shot, just leave it alone.

Which idiot told you that?
You will get no different MPG.
You will NOT gain HP.

Person who said that is a moron or trying to figure out just how gullible you really are.

Benefits:
- One less part in the engine bay.
- Less fluid to leak on the driveway.

Detractions:
- Harder to steer while moving slowly.

If it was smoother because of that, then he had issues with his power steering to begin with.
