The light in the overdrive lockout switch in my 1986 NA 300ZX is flashing. Never noticed the light before. I had just jumped it, as I have had the doors open while I rebuild the interior and headliner. Why is this flashing, and what does it mean?

 

it means the overdrive is locked out. most likely just an error in the computer. when the tranny is cold, the computer will lockout overdrive to keep from damaging the trans.
