Does anybody know if I can replace the water temp switch with one of these for e-fan install ... it says in the engine block or intake manifold ... are they universal threaded? ... can I use the exsisiting water temp switch for e-fan install?

If you take out the water temp switch, the temp gauge won't work. It's a lot easier to just wire up a relay & have the fan running all the time... or wire in a switch so you can turn it on. Most fans that have a temp sensor just advise to install the sensor in the thermostat housing or somewhere near the top (or outlet from motor) of the radiator.

I thought the diagram above shows the water temp switch for the a/c helper fan in front of the radiator, which i'm removing since no a/c ... I thought it's only function was to turn on that fan when it hits 212f ... Isn't the temp guage sensor somewhere else ... I heard it wasn't good to run an e-fan all the time because of strain on electrical system ... a switch inside, i'll probally forget to turn it on at a stop light ... what about the probes that go in between the radiator fins are those good? or are the probes you stick in a hose and clamp better? (I heard those leak) ... sorry for all the questions in one, thanks for any help you guys give.
