Distributor cap and rotor replacement

I'm replacing my distributor cap and rotor this week. I changed my plugs last week and the car gained back some power and is running better. Will a distributor cap and rotor make the car run even better? What will it do?

Maybe

If you are experiencing misses, stumbles and your rotor and cap are badly worn, then replacing it will give better, more consistent performance. On a purely maintenance level, its good to replace those parts that wear out when you are rebuilding / restoring a car, or just trying to get the best tune you can. Then you will have records of when you replaced said parts and then can do your regular maintenance at the prescribed service periods and stay on top of the wear and tear any machine suffers. New plug wires will help too if the old set is showing wear, or just beat up.
