Adjusting Fuel Air mixture

I took my vehicle to a mechanic recomendedby a fried (General) who I realize had no experience with tempermental Z's. His crew played with my Fuel and Air mixture, which as we all know they are factory set. Well now the vehicle is a cold starter and has RPM issues. I have the service manual for this vehicle But need advic on how to know it is set correctly (example; Oce she starts she is fine but at any given moment she reorts to the 2,200 RPM safe mode. The mas airflow unit is good so it has to do with the tampering of th Fuel and Air mixture. HELP need advise. Should I just take it to Nissan or can I set it correctly.

PS. 85 300zx 2+2 Automatic

What did his "crew" do when they were tampering w/ the mixture? Have you checked your timing?

Timming is Ok , but system say's mass airflow meeter.I tested and even exchanges it both are OK, I will follow the service manualon trouble shooting weaher permitting. If I can't resolve my next step will be a nissan dealer.

However, It also may be the cataletic Converter that may need to bore out or replaced. I know I'm heating in the right direction to resolve, but it sure is a pain in the A....

I will update how I sesolve the issue to asist everyone on the site who may have the same problems.

Unless it's Emissions tests that you are failing, it's not the cat. Since the cat is in the exhaust system, after the engine, it has no effect on unburnt a/f ratio.

but shake it, if you hear it rattle, it needs to be changed. The segments ,when they break off, cause way to much back preasure.

Thats what happened to my '90 Camaro. took forever to fig out hte problem, so I was pulling the exhaust to get ready to pull the engine. When I discovered the issue. I pulled it off and inserted a test pipe...then poof, all was good in the "hood"

special order parts

WOlfman,
I notice you always mention that you must order special parts for your Z31.
Well once you get back from Germany you will be able to pick them up from e-bay easy. I own 2 z31's and never found a shortage on parts I need from e-bay.
Food for thouhts
