I just purchased an 86 n/a 2+2. It's ben sitting so I started going thru it. I've driven it around the neighborhood quite a bit. I knew it needed a battery' so one day I came back from a neighborhood cruise & shut it off. I went to start it & all the lights dimmed like it wanted to start but it didn"t say a word. I went & got a new battery, still the same thing. Its a little cold to be messing around with it right now, but where should I start?

 

Check all your connections, battery post, clamp to cable if you have cheap cables, starter, fusible links. My bet is you'll find it without going much further.

Ok I tried a new battery. Clamped it tight. Idk where the fusable link is. I think it is either a bad ground or there is a relay under the hood that says security/starter. could that be it? HELP!

 

IT could be your alternator?

did the car start when you put the new batt in?

 

Nope it does the same thing. All the lights come on, But it's like no power is going to the starter. I think ill try to jump it from underneath.
