injector cooling fan
injector cooling fan
not sure what happened to my post the first time, but i'll try again.
i know the fuel injector cooling fan was a gimmicky, perhaps ineffective method for cooling down the problematic injectors. mine, however, is unplugged; when i plug it in, it runs non-stop. does anyone have a spec for how long it is supposed to run? i have come out to it 30 minutes after turning the car off and it is still running. i don't want it to drain the battery so i've been leaving it unplugged. i want to get it working properly in the hopes that it helps resolve my hard start when hot issue; I have read in other forums that the injector cooling fans were designed to minimize vapor lock, which would explain my symptoms.
is there a control module for the injector fan that i could replace if it comes to it? how do i get this thing working properly?
i have an 84 anniversary turbo.
thanks.

download the fsm from xenon and look at the circuit diagram. pretty good manual once you get the hang of how it is organized. plug fan in when car is dead cold and if it starts running you have a bad thermo switch. I'd look for other causes my experience took the fan off all my z's never had a problem. bad battery (get it load tested) bad battery cables. someone cut the ground off that goes into the body and grounded direct to starter. this is not a reliable grounding method.
