importance of the injector cooling fan?
Basically what the title asks... is the fan like a "just in case something overheats" sort of thing or is it a necessary part for things to operate normally? My injector cooling fan has been MIA since I bought the car and I couldn't salvage one from the parts car as it got destroyed in the accident. I have been driving the car this way since january, and who knows how long the PO rocked it that way. Should I go find one as soon as possible or is it not that big of a deal?

Normally I'm not a strong supporter for the search button because some things are hard to research but this subject has been covered I'd say like 20 times.
Short story short, its to prevent vapor lock in the injectors.

Thanks
And I hate the search button as well. I tried searching but all it turned up was a bunch of threads about other random stuff and somewhere someone will say something about a fuel injector or a fan. I couldn't find anything specifically about the injector fan. After being on many different forums over the years I instinctively know to try the search button first, but that rarely helps. Only after i have found nothing will I go and create a new thread.

It can stick around triple digits here in Georgia for several hours during the day (I think it hit like 97 today?) Only trouble I have is when I park on an incline and I guess the vapor builds up in one area on the front of my fuel rail then gets blocked in the injectors, just takes a while of cranking and it clears up.
Edit (took mine off because it quit working but im considering putting it back on now that I know how to fix it)
