Fuel sending unit

Question, my fuel gauge (bar graph) works, but the gallon number does not work. It works when i do the diag check, and ive had the car under 5 gallons so i know it isnt that. When i clear out my trunk for hte fuel pump will there be 2 acces holes (pump and sending unit) or one hole for both? And does the sending unit give the dash the bar graph AND gallon number or are there 2 sending units? one for each?

One hole

One hole under there, it's for the sending unit. Google it. That's how I got the answer (I'm doing the fuel pump which unfortunately requires dropping the tank). LOTS of info if you take the time to search. The FSM isn't as well organized as other makers I've seen, but it does have the how-to on the fuel sending unit. Don't have the digital dash so can't help answer your question otherwise.

everyones answer on this forum is "check the free FSM" why have a forum then? this site should just be a link straight the the FSM since thats everyones answer. Ever think maybe its easier to just post a quick thread and get a quick answer? Some people dont have time to sit online and scroll through hundreds of pages of a book online.

We get so many people that won't lift a finger or turn a page you get that answer a lot because the answer is in the fsm. If you truly enjoy your Z learning how it works and being able ti maintain should be a goal. otherwise pay someone for repairs. you don't need to read the fsm online. download to your computer and you have it for reference when you need it. Yes fuel pump need to drop the tank. sending unit does everthing. comes out the top of the tank. new one at courtesy nissan. Your carping about no answers is closely akin to "I've tried nothing and it still doesn't work". IF you write a cogent question and explain steps you have taken people will give advice. If you don't like the advice ignore it.

I say this in the kindest way possible:

When you are hungry, do you say: "mommy, make me food!", or do you go get yourself something to eat? The same situation applies here. You are asking a fairly simple question that you can answer yourself in 2 minutes by checking the FSM (there is a Table of Contents), or you can wait hours or days for someone to respond here on the forum. We are here to help, but please feel free to help yourself too.

Again, the FSM, and most every other book has a table of contents. The Nissan FSM's have a book TOC, and each section has a TOC. It should take the average person about 2 minutes to find basic info in the FSM.

Please don't be [too] offended by what I have said... but almost every forum in the world runs the same way. We are pretty lax here. If you ask generic questions on HBZ, you get banned.

Lastly, as has now been stated twice, yes you must drop the tank.
