CHTS questions

can a bad chts affect the idle of a v30 n/a in a 1987 300zx. My car seems to idle high at about 1600 rpm. The maf was bad i changed that seems to run good but at a high idle. I tested the tps by unplugging it and starting the car idled right above 2k when i unplugged it. So im thinking eather timing or CHTS=cylinder head tempature sensor. can other sensors cause a high idle. From what i have read its tps ,maf, and someone told me the chts. Im gonna change the plug wires and do the timing, with a timing light. already did the plugs. It doesnt seem like a tune up issue to me the car is just idling high but running perfectly fine when driving. If i drop it in drive going down the road it idles fine. When i drop it in drive it idles at 700 with my foot on the brake.

I seriously doubt it. And not 1600 rpm high.

I think its on the drivers side of the plenum. You can just it with a flat screwdriver if I'm not mistaken.

thanks i did some reading in the fsm and i unplugged the iat sure enough the car idles at like 1000-1100 with it unplugged. I noticed the screw its right by the throttle body where the cable connects. It seems like its stripped kinda, where you would put a flat head screw driver is really wide and it looks like its turned almost all the way in aswell. i think im gonna hafta take off the intake to get it loosened up. Maybe use the flat head end of a tire iron donno.

Is it bad to run the car with the iat unplugged it seemed to run way better?

look in your haynes manual. it shows you how to adjust it correctly.
