Cable Vs Elctronic speed control
Hi guys, we are repairing a 86 300zx turbo in our shop that had a fire. We have a doner car [same year/motor etc. we have swapped harnesses etc however realized our original car has an electronic speed sender on the transmission and the donor car was a cable operated speedo. all the other harnessing looks to match up. question being is the harness is burnt for the trans. What are my options here? swap the cluster and run a cable? If we wire in the esc will the donor harness have the connection or can we wire it into the ecm? if so where?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hey Keith! Have you had a look at the wiring schematics for the car by chance? The FSM has the info. I don\t have an answer for you on this, but if I was a betting man I would say you could just wire in the connector for the electronic speed sensor and use the original trans?
My first suggestion would be to check out the electrical schematic and see which pins on the ECU harness are for the electric speed and see if your ECU has wires there. If it doesn't you could likely add them in manually and wire it down to the speed sensor.

That is our plan as of now. We dont have the engin in it yet, so we dont know if there are any "extra" connections that might be there, but unused. I will dig up the schematics in the morning and start figuring it out. I am not sure if AllData will have them so hopefully someone here has them.
Thanks and I will keep you all updated
