Anybody w/ boost controllers

What did you do about the pop off valve? Plug it?
Shim it? How?
Buy an adjustable one? Where?
I just installed a boost controller and it all was going out the POV. I can't find an aftermarket one. Seemes foolish to plug it with a bolt. I guess? I don't know what to, but want to play it safe.

I've got a boostvalve.com unit but have been very hesitant to put it on. Does your's make that annoying high-pitch squeal as it bleeds pressure off? Let me know how you like yours.

Some plug it, some modify it w/ fender washers or a stronger spring, some buy the Greedy (yeah I know how it's spelled) adjustable. I used washers but when I replaced my plenum with an NA plenum and I left the bolt in. The wg is very, very, very unlikely to fail and if it does a vac hose will blow off. texp51, I think you have the POV (emergency release valve) which is OEM mixed up with a BOV (bypass or recirc valve) which Nissan did not provide for the z31's. That is what, when vented to atmo makes the sound, between shifts, that all the ricers crave.

I took off the POV and pluged it. I couldn't figure out how to take appart the POV. Also how much boost do you run? I've read what you have. I bought the car w/ a catback already on it (don't know what size pipe it is) but am thinking about the 3" turbo back that you got from CM. Is it worth it? or just a down pipe. What's the difference between an n/a plentum.
sorry for all the questions. You have alot that I want to do to my Z.

Now that I got the boost higher (8.5psi) the car is quicker. I raced a Talon last night. Basicly he was in second gear trying to swirve around me so I hit it (in 3 gear). dusted him by at least a car length. Dont know if it was turbo ( I didn't see the back of his car. lol) but I hope it was because I felt great after that.
Yes, definetly install it. I have the HP TurboXs one works great but I don't like adjusting it with the allen key.
I agree with ZenArcher you are probally thinking of a BOV. But the intake is much louder than before. I can barly hear my exaust. My plans are for spearco intercooler kit next spring w/ a BOV because it releases the back pressure to keep the turbo spinng.

I got a pretty much stock Z with max boost at 11psi. I think thats pretty safe. Ive hit 11psi no problem although Ive never sustained it for over 2 minutes so i dont know for sure.

Boost controllers don't make high pitch squeals when letting out air. It's probably a blow off valve you're thinking about.

I use a higher pressure spring to mod them.
