I have a 87 n/a that is cool and fun but would like to have alittle more kick in it. My problems are that I'm 16 and I can only get a non-turbo, leaving me with this, and it's an automatic. Plus I have a small budget, (remember- 16). Any tips would be appreciated. thanks

 

my advice would be to learn as much as you can about the car first. You're 16, you can get into plenty of trouble with it already. Since you don't have a big budget, you're not going to be able to do much anyway. Chances are, you'll get into an accident with it before you turn 18 anyway, so there's no real point in making it faster right now.

Have more faith in our youth AZ. LoL I'm 18, been driving since I was 15, and riding on motorcycles since I was 2 months old, driving motorcycles at the age 8 and so on. Never been envolved in any kind of accident. Indy, you can buy a turbo off E-Bay for like under a grand easy. Seen twin turbos for 500 once. I wouldn't suggest it, if your insurance company finds out, they may kill you. It'd be a little on the spendy side, but it's worth saving for if you can hold out that long. Money *STILL* burns a hole in my pocket. Don't go extra large on the exhaust unless you turbo charge it, unless you want to sacrifice low end torque (making it accelerate even slower) for sound. Not aboslutely positive, but I've done quite a bit of reasearch, there aren't a whole lot of performance parts available for the Z. Basically it's all just a matter of turning up what you already got, such as the ECU and Boost levels.. maybe upgrading the fuel pump and so on. That was my attempt to *help* someone.
