85 Z's can fly!
This past week i got into my first accident ever. I was driving my 85 300ZX NA out to my friends house and reached a familiar turn that i usually like to push the car pretty hard around. The problem is that I neglected to remember that my tires have 50000 miles on them and are bald as all hell. I have been trying to get new ones for awhile now but thats a story in itself. So getting caught up in the moment I dropped it into 2nd and let the speed go down some but i was still pushing 20-25....maybe 30....too many rpms...well there was gravel in the turn that I didn't see because of the brush and right when I made my initial turn the car didn't change course...the wheels just turned and kept going strait. Trying to stay calm I applied preassure on the brakes but I just planed over the gravel. I probably only got down to about 20-25 mph when i flew off the side of the road. On the side I went off there is a 6 foot drop into the ditch and the road is on an upward angle creating almost a ramp. My friends following behind me said my car flew off the side and got 3-4 feet of air before crashing down into the ditch full of rocks. Completely disgusted with my shitty driving and lack of pride in my automobile I got out only to find minimal damage considering the accident. I had to drop 650 bucks on new connecting rods for the suspension and to re-allign the frame. THere was very minimal body damage with only some marks on the front spoiler and a slight crack. Yeh, I don't really deserve my car after this display of horrid driving ability, but I thought I would share my story with you in an effort that you may too learn from my experience. I got lucky, but these cars are incredible...and they have to be driven with pride.

Thanks man for sharing this story [SOB]. It's tear jerkin... And touchin... [tears] lol..
j/k.. Seriously, glad you walked away from it and glad your car (in a way) did too. And it's true. You have to respect that power called a car, because if you don't treat her right, she will remind you in her way as you have seen huh. Bet next time you'll get the tires.. lol.. Stay safe and keep drivin.
