About six times now I have been unable to get out of the Z. The driver's side door handle doesn't work and the power window seems like the gears are stripped, leaving the window needing help to go up or down. The first time I went out the T-top!

Questions: Is there a repair for the handle not using cheap plastic parts? and Is the power window regulator built into the motor? Are any door parts available new?

if you can find a z31 at the junkyard there is a plastic piece that slides in the door handle unit. they break then you can't open the door from inside. I'd check the power to the window to be sure you don't have a bad switch or other high resistance connection which is denying full voltage/amps to the window motor

 

Thanks. My daughter replaced a plastic piece before. I assume it is the same one.

The motor sounds like it is working. I assume the regulator and motor come apart. Disassemble this week.
