85 z31 turbo rpm gauge not working

Hello guys, I my rpm gauge isn't working on my z31 its not a digital gauge, any ideas of where i should start or what it might be?

download the fsm from xenon and read it. you should be able to troubleshoot the tachometer from the info contained therein.
